Memorialized in films such as North & South and The Notebook the world famous 'Avenue of the Oaks' lives up to its imagery in real life. Magnificent and majestic are words that come to mind as I drive the Avenue toward Boone Hall. The grounds are pet-friendly to properly leashed pets however, the buildings are not. Boone Hall Plantation is open every day of the year except Thanksgiving and Christmas...and whatever day the Scottish Highland Games fall on in a given year. Beau and I tried to visit but it was the day of the Scottish Highland Games and we we're turned away...you don't think it was because Beau is Irish do you??
