About a two hour drive from Denver heading west the the beginning of Independence Pass, Wickipedia describes it this way this way, "Its narrow road provides for slow cautious navigation on its approaches"...now that's an understatement! We traveled over the mountain pass to Aspen on a glorious, sunny day and even then it was a little hairy. However, with the summit well above 12,000 feet above sea level, the scenery was breathtaking and worth every hair-pin turn it took to get above the tree line to see it. Take the trip if you dare...you'll be glad you did.
