2008 PAW 'TOP DOG' AWARD WINNER: BEST LUXURY PET-FRIENDLY HOTEL WELCOME AMENITY!

The Woodlands Resort & Inn requires me to adjust the PAW rating system (4 PAWS UP is no longer enough!) and enrich my vocabulary, because 'Divine', which is usually my highest praise, is suddenly inadequate because the Woodlands Inn exceeds Divine in every category!

Truly a 'dining destination', an epicurean Everest, the dining at the Woodlands Resort & Inn has been rated 5 Diamond by AAA and 5 Star by Mobil. The on-site restaurant is one of only three in the country to hold bragging rights to both of those distinctions. I happened to be staying on an evening when they were hosting one of their monthly wine dinners. If you have the opportunity to partake in one of these special evenings, please do, it was a truly magnificent meal.

With regard to the pet-friendliness of the property, I can't imagine anything that could make this property more pet-friendly! The staff is genuine and delightful, (and exceptionally good at what they do!). Everything I could have wanted for myself or Beau was anticipated by this top notch group. Beau needed to be leashed at all times while on property, with the exception of a small, enclosed patio off the Winter Garden Room, which was a wonderful place to take my complimentary afternoon tea while Beau got to stretch his legs a bit. Beau was not allowed in the dining areas, but other than that, Beau was allowed everywhere on the property; the pool (if leashed) area, the tennis area, and the abundant walking trails were all open and welcome to us!

The Woodlands Resort & Inn had just, (days a prior to my arrival) completed an extensive renovation of the interior common and private spaces. It was rated 5 Diamond and 5 Star prior to this renovation, and now both of those agencies are going to have to devise an award that exceeds that! This is truly a place of restorative tranquility and it makes me think I really missed out on something, not being of-a-certain-age when men were required to wear jackets to dinner and people called you 'mam'. Divine, sumptuous, sophisticated, classic, southern, charming and delightful The Woodlands Resort & Inn defies a one-word accolade...unless we invent a word that means PAW thought it was Awesome...that's it...it was PAWSOME! in every respect!

The Woodlands Inn has achieved the perfect combination of Southern Charm, sophistication, and pet-friendliness. . . The Bar has been set!

Pet Guest Amenities

The Pet Welcome Amenity at The Woodlands Inn is by far one of the best we've seen to date. Upon checking in to the room we were greeted by a stainless steel food and water station on a black bone shaped mat and on the bench at the foot of the bed was a gift basket that included a copy of Lowcountry Dog Magazine, a great resource for local pet-friendly things to do, a package of house-made, bone shaped, dog biscuits which must be 99% peanut butter because Beau went mad for them, and bottled water (to wash them down of course).

Guest Amenities

The guest amenities were a abundant! Obviously, all of the amenities one would expect from a 5 Diamond, 5 Star resort were present but it was the thoughtful extras that really made my stay memorable. I have often wished for a lovely little throw to place around my shoulders or on my lap on the settee in a hotel room. The Woodlands provided the most beautiful green silk throw placed on the foot of the bed and it was exactly what I had wished for in a hundred other rooms; perfect in weight and texture. The sumptuous bed had a feather bed topper which was heavenly. The bathroom was luxurious with a large soaking jacuzzi tub and even the extra roll of toilet tissue was enveloped in an organza pouch and tied with a silver tassel. When I say every detail...I mean EVERY detail!
